Blank Blue DesktopI've had 3 computers in the past week come in with blank blue desktops (no
icons, no taskbars, no start button) just blank blue with a cursor arrow. Two machines were Win 2K sp4 with all updates, 1 was Win XP home sp2. I can use CTRL-ALT-DEL to get the task manager and run programs/tasks and have scanned all 3 for viruses/spyware and all 3 came up clean on HJT. Anyone have any ideas on the cause/solution ? Thanks for any replies In news:5E7EE176-9427-475D-BED7-C3D4F0150FDB@microsoft.com, Vagrant <Vagr***@discussions.microsoft.com> wibbledShow quoteHide quote > I've had 3 computers in the past week come in with blank blue http://support.microsoft.com/kb/256194> desktops (no icons, no taskbars, no start button) just blank blue > with a cursor arrow. > > Two machines were Win 2K sp4 with all updates, 1 was Win XP home sp2. > > I can use CTRL-ALT-DEL to get the task manager and run programs/tasks > and have scanned all 3 for viruses/spyware and all 3 came up clean on > HJT. > > Anyone have any ideas on the cause/solution ? > > Thanks for any replies Thanks Steve,
That did the trick. I wish Microsoft would fix the search engine in the KB. I've been searching for a week with search key "blank desktop" and get everything but this article. articles. Vagrant wrote: Show quoteHide quote > Thanks Steve, > That did the trick. The MSKB article was the second item listed, using only "blank desktop" as the criteria.
