Windows installer launching whenever I try to open a fileI've searched Microsoft, the web and groups but can't find this same
problem (similar, but not the same) with a solution, so I'll try here to see if I have better luck. Within the last two weeks whenever I double click to open a file in Windows Explorer, Windows Installer launches and tries to install Contribute 3. I have not recently installed Contribute or performed any other software installations or updates other than Firefox. I have not done any recent MS auto updates either. It first began when clicking excel files, but now is happening with other MS files types and plain text files. I have to keep trying to cancel to get the dialog box to disappear. One click won't do it. It just keeps tying to install. Any suggestions will be appreciated! Thanks! glorywest wrote:

Enter Contribute (or Adobe if nothing is subsequently found) and delete every key LHS) and/or every value included within a key (RHS) that is found to contain Contribute. Reboot your PC. Many thanks for the reply. I will give this a try to see if it has any
effect. Show quoteHide quote > > Check whether Contribute is seen in Add/Remove Programs. If so, > uninstall from there. If not, first backup your registry. Then open > regedit and go to edit/find.
