myMAPISession.SignOn()VB recognizes everything but when I run it and it gets to myMAPISession.SignOn() it brings up: Setting up Internet Mail The Internet Connection Wizard has detected previously installed e-mail software. You can have your Internet mail account settings imported, so you can continue to use them with your new mail program. Then ask me if I want to create a new mail account or import it from Microsoft Windows Messaging or Exchange or Outlook What's up with this? I have Mozilla Thunderbird as my defualt mail client but I also use Outlook (not express) for another email account. Both packages work fine and have for almost a year now. I access the web via the company's LAN and it's up and running. I thought this MAPI was supposed to pull up a new message in my default mail program. Any ideas? You mentioned in your other thread that that you resolved this? Also, I
replied to your questions concerning displaying the Compose window. Actually I never solved it, it just went away. Come to find out what's
going on is I have Thunderbird, outlook and outlook express all on the pc. Thunderbird is set up for one email account and outlook for another and outlook express came on the machine and has never been used. I couldn't find anywhere in outlook to set it as the default email program so I'd used start/programs/set program access and defaults to change the default to what I thought was outlook and it was actually outlook express which came up with the internet connection wizard as it was not configured. I'm trying now to find out more about how the default mail program is actually stored. Seems I have to use IE to make outlook the default program. Makes no sense to me but that's MS. That program I used called "set program access and defaults" which came on my pc only showed outlook express and current email program as choices. It didn't list outlook or thunderbird. I can't even find where to have outlook check to see if it's the default mail program when it starts. CMM wrote: Show quoteHide quote > You mentioned in your other thread that that you resolved this? Programs controls this stuff. It's just MS's way of trying consolidate settings. Thunderbird should have "registered" itself as a mail program and should be listed in Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Programs. Set Program Access and Defaults is just a dumbed down access to what I mentioned above. Don't use it (at least not for this).
