Dan
I have a web project that I haven't accessed for a few months. Now when I
try to access it (on my machine) I get the following error:

"Unable to open Web project 'genealogyweb'. Unable to validate that the file
path 'C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\genalogyweb' matches URL path
'http://localhost:/genalogyweb'. A connection with the server could not be
established."

I have followed the procedures in the document displayed by help to
reinstall asp.net. I have attempted to install IIS in accordance with KB
article. (No IIS icon appears in Control Panel.) without any improvement.

(I assume that some MS update screwed something up since I haven't had any
other issues that would incicate a virus, etc. or is there something else I
could have done inadvertantly?)

How do I proic eed to recover my local website and my project?

Thanks

(If there is a better forum for this question, please point me in the right
direction.)

Dan,

This question was placed in past almost twice a month in the newsgroup
dotnet General.

Therefore you get a bunch of answers when you set your question in a Query
search.

Can you have a look for yourself.

http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.dotnet.general/search?group=microsoft.public.dotnet.general&q=Unable+to+open+Web+project+&qt_g=1&searchnow=Search+this+group

I hope this helps,

Cor
