Can anyone point me to examples of commercial software packages (i.e. sold
through VARs or retail channels) that were programmed in VB.net?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Mostly comes messages like yours anonyme from trolls, but lets assume your
are not. This was sent 6 weeks ago send to this newsgroups, I think it needs
no other examples.

Nice link Cor.

But I want to add the following:

The choice of a language should not be based on who is using it, but on
what the language implementation can do, production factors, and
available knowledge in an organisation.

Thanks for the link. I'll take a look.
And yeah, I have my newsreader set to use an anonymous user id.
But nope, not trolling for anything except examples of commercial packages
known to be written in VB!
I'd like to compile a list of about a dozen packages to combat the very
issues that you may have thought I might be trolling for.

Best regards.

Tracy

Who cares whether or not any commercial programs are written in VB? I don't
believe that is the measuring stick for whether a programming language is
valid.  I can say that the majority of corporate apps at my company (UPS)
are written in .NET. Some developers prefer C# but most are written in VB.
These range from huge enterprise applications to small utilities.

Wow. I didn't realize I would be hitting some kind of nerve here.
I tried to keep it simple and factual.
And I didn't say I was creating a measuring stick. Believe me, I'm not
running a contest. That's not my game.
I'm just trying to compile a list of commercial packages that I can say to
anyone who asks, that they were written in vb.net.
Hey if there aren't any that come to mind, that's cool, too.
I don't have an agenda.

Thanks.

Well in my previous job i worked for the market leader in Automotive
cataloging

all there commercial programs are written in VB6  or VB.Net

these programs are sold throughout  Europe

Almost every garage in europe works with one or more of there products

http://www.nohausystems.com/

<ego modus >

:-)  ,,, the three products they think are a nice curiculum for there
website are all three written by me

</ego modus >

Currently i work for a Energy company , ( also a market leader in there
segment )  and i work mainly on internal projects  , ( not sold to thir
party`s )  as these are production systems .

and again everything is written in VB.Net 2005 , ( after they had tried
Delphi , Cobol .Net and C# )

Why ??  ( not trying to start a flame war here  ! ! )    , VB developers are
cheaper and more found , VB example source is easy to find  , VB coders are
more open to share there knowledge ( see the big VB comunity )  , VB is a
true RAD ( ands our project needs to be finished in a short term )

regards
