Hi

As Windows Vista is around the corner, I'm considering upgradeing my dev
machine. But, one thing I'm curiouse about it if there are any known issues
with Vista and Visual Studio 2005.
Not fun to use 2 days reinstalling, and when I'm finnally sitting down to do
some programming, something hangs or is broken. I've heard something that
Visual Studio 2005 will not be supported until SP 1 for VS is released.
Anyone got any info?

/A.

Hmmm I didn't hear that.  We have a developer machine running Vista RC with
Studio 2005 and it seems to be working okay.

Although I can't seem to find the article now, I did read somewhere
that VS2005 may have some issues *read: bugs* when running on Vista,
but they should be addressed with sp1. It didn't elaborate on what the
possible issues were, but apparently they must not be too major or else
Robinson wouldn't be running it.

Anyways, I wouldn't worry to much about the bugs, after all I'm running
vs2005 on XP and I get bugs/errors all the time - so how much worse
could Vista make it? :-)

Thanks,

Seth Rowe

You are right about the article. There are issues with the base release of
Visual Studio 2005 and Vista. Visual Studio 2005 SP1 is supposed to resolve
the issues, but it isn't available yet. Here is an article from Somasegar's
blog announcing SP1, where he mentions a "few compatibility issues."

I think this is the article you were referring to, from MCP Magazine.
