Install errors during a Fix installHi Everyone,
I need a little help. I installed the new patch the other day for VB slow performance and since then I stated having more problems, like the IDE compiler locking up. Anyways, today every form I tried to open would not open without an error, and it would not show the form. So I decided to reinstall VS 2005. When I run the Repair install on my machine It could not find the main setup after getting the Maintenance Mode screen. Then I got this error: Setup is looking for file WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe. Please insert MS VS 2005 Professional Edition - ENU disk 1. I found the file on the cd, so I pointed it to that dir on the install cd. When I select OK to continue, I get the following error: The chosen path is invalid. Choose OK to select a different folder. What is happening, I've never seen an install from microsoft act this way. Can anyone please help. Thanks for any info. Michael Michael,
I would try and clean cd first but here is an article which shows how to troubleshoot vs 2005 install problems. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/904732/ Ken ------------------------- Show quoteHide quote "Michael" wrote: > Hi Everyone, > I need a little help. Thanks for the reply. I'll check out the article. I ended up running a clean install. Part of my problem was that I tried to wrap a Namespace around the form class and that seemed to have caused the problem with the form. Can't we use a namespace like that, or is that a bug. Thanks again for the reply.
