Why - you think that would get me a first date?

Well, I thought because she could use it and learn
from it. But now that you mention it, maybe that would
work. It's a pretty entertaining (and illuminating) book.
It depends on how she takes it. She might be insulted
that you think she needs the book. You'd have to
frame it right.

It also depends on how much she likes programming.
Is she a trainer who repeats the material, or does
she really understand it? Does she get excited about
Generics? Does XML give her a thrill? Then yeah,
it might get you a first date. Especially if you
told her you were *so* stuck and needed just a *little*
help understanding something.

What have you got to lose? Besides your dignity, I mean. ;-)

There are several who attend my local .Net User Group meetings.
And I saw some at the Microsoft launch event for VS2005 in
San Francisco. I'd say 10-15%. So you see, they do exist.
You just have to find them.

So, what you're saying is Bill keeps the totty at his conventions and
media events, whilst I have to work with the six foot (wide) blokes?

You need to get your company to, uh, "value diversity" and hire
some female programmers. Maybe your company doesn't beat the
latest trend to death like the American corporations do. This
would be one (and probably the only) case in which you could
wish they would. ;-)
