How can I get the 2005 ide to have the dots in the form that the
controls are aligned to like in 2003?

Tools - Options - Windows Form Designer - general - LayoutMode.

I used to go blind with the dots though.

I'm having trouble getting the controls placed where I want them because
it's always snapping them to alignment with other controls. I'm pretty
sure you can turn of the snap to alignment with the dots but I need some
kind of positive alignment.  I'd LIKE a compromise between the two maybe
the lines like it defaults to in 2005 but not making them snap into
place with other controls.  It's too hard to explain so I'm not sure why
I'm even typing this.  Got work to do.

Personally I find the 2005 version of aligning controls much better than the
old grid style and I wouldn't go back, but are you aware that holding left
ALT key while dragging temporarily turns of snap alignment, which can help
with precise alignment in some cases.

Regards,

Martin.

No, I wasn't aware of that.  That could be all I need.
