Terry and others,

Will you please be so kind not to use this group as a test newsgroup, there
are many special newsgroups created by Microsoft for that purpose

James,

And what kind of response an MSFT would give on this kind of questions?

I don't know.  Have you asked them?

It just seems incredible to me that a new MSDN subscriber can go through the
process of getting their subscription set up and ending up at the page I
quoted, and they have NO instructions re testing their new configuration.
And if they do go ahead and test it, using what would appear to be a
reasonable protocol, they get told they have done the wrong thing.  And
no-one seems prepared (or able) to do anything about it.

James,

Why do you not set this as a suggestion on Connect.Microsoft.Com

Then they can do that with a special test newsgroup which comes available in
the managed newsgroups.

However, this is a newsgroup about visual basic language, not about testing
subscriptions.
Subscriptions is a Microsoft product like a Xbox is a Microsoft product.

Nevertheless some of the requests posted to this newsgroup are actually
support requests by MSDN subscribers.  Those requests are typically answered
by Microsoft employees.

And I was in a chat with a MS representative that told me to do it.  Was I
suppose to refuse?

No simply had asked his/her name and told that you would put that by his/her
idea in the subject of the message
