Web server is not running ASP.NET version 1.1.I tried to start a new ASP .Net project and got this error.
ERROR: Visual Studio .NET has detected that the specified Web server is not running ASP.NET version 1.1. You will be unable to run ASP.NET web applications. I am already at SP2 and don't have IIS installed. What is my alternative to either getting IIS installed (I don't have a SP2 version of IIS install disk) or using some third party server that supports ASP .net?? Thanks! Bob Hello,
VS 2005 or later has a built in developement server. Unless you really need to stick with VS 2003/.NET 1.1 I would upgrade to VS 2008/.NET 3.5 (which is basically .NET 2.0 plus additional new stuff). Express Editions are free (http://www.microsoft.com/express/product/). Else try : http://forums.asp.net/p/928529/1752336.aspx (A simple HOW TO for getting Cassini (which is a sample web server) working with XP Home and Visual Studio 2003) -- Patrice "BobAchgill" <BobAchg***@discussions.microsoft.com> a écrit dans le message de groupe de discussion : ED191BD5-48E3-4321-A9A1-6C1F393E1***@microsoft.com... In my idea do you ask two questions, is it that IIS is not on your computer, or that there is not set in IIS that it should use Net 1.1? The first one is in Add Programs Microsoft and then check the box for that. (You need a Professional version for that or a Server) Cor Show quoteHide quote "BobAchgill" <BobAchg***@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:ED191BD5-48E3-4321-A9A1-6C1F393E1F83@microsoft.com... >I tried to start a new ASP .Net project and got this error. > > ERROR: > Visual Studio .NET has detected that the specified Web server is not > running > ASP.NET version 1.1. Because I was not doing ASP work. Now when I need IIS and try to install IIS by the method you suggest... I can't because... The IIS on my XP Pro OS install disk is only for a SP1 machine. It can't install the SP1 level of IIS on a computer already upgraded to SP2. MS does not seem to have a solution as far as I can tell. That IIS install has not much to do with SP1 or SP2 it is on every professional computer and every server. Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows Features on or off -> Internet Information Service and select what you want. You are not the only one doing this, if this does not work, you should be able to search on Internet for the problem. (As the OS CD is asked, you have as far as I know to use the original installation disk, whatever SP is on that) Cor Show quoteHide quote "BobAchgill" <BobAchg***@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:ECE37808-876B-411F-B842-ED5A41877653@microsoft.com... > When I re-installed my operating system last year I forgot to install IIS. > Because I was not doing ASP work.
