Cannot join domain Network path not found

We had a Windows NT4 server that was replaced by a Windows 2000 server as a
domain controller.  The NT 4 domain controller was not demoted prior to the
change.  Now the existing clients (windows 2000 and 98) cannot join the
domain.  I receive "network path not found," even after prompting for
Administrator credentials for the addition to the domain. How do I join the
clients to the domain?  Do I need to demote the domain controller?

Have you tried making them a member of a workgroup, rebooting & then trying
to re-join the domain?

Yes, I have tried to disjoin the clients from the workgroup and re-join the
domain to no avail.  Still I get "network path not found..."  Thanks for your
response.

Hi,

Very likely a DNS name resolution issue, please see the posts in the
