I am trying to find out how to disable the error messsage on a Windows 2000
Professional system when removing a USB device before stopping it.  Before I
get messages saying that I should not do this, i know devices should be
stopped first.  The device in particular is a digital dictation machine that
is connected via a USB cable for downloading the files automatically.  Once
the files are downloaded the users are disconnecting the device without
going through the stop device procedure.  This has not yet caused a problem
to any of the devices as there is no longer any data left on the machine.
The only problem is this dialoque box warning you of the dangers.  I would
like to be able to diasable the warning box from appearing all the time.

Thanks for any advice.

I don't think you can disable it - and you shouldn't even if you could.

If this message is annoying your users, they will eventually learn to stop
the device first. I'm not sure that any actual harm can come from them just
pulling the plug given the device you're using, but that may not always be
true.

This is really a training/behavior issue, not a technical one.

It will eventually take it's toll. Get ready to do a ton of formats or educate them.
