Win 2000 Pro will not complete startup

The machine stalls after the progress bar has completed on the Windows
Starting Screen. I log on and it goes through what seems like all the steps,
but just before I get the applying you preferences window, the machine
stalls. All activity stops and the machines just stalls. This is a new hard
drive, I have installed several times and the last time through I formatted
the hard drive again. Same result. I loaded XP Pro on it and it started
fine.
Any suggestions???

Sounds like a hardware issue. Try a 'Safe Mode' boot and check Event Viewer
for errors. Also check Device Manager for error codes and or non-starting
devices.
