What to do with Program Error?

When I get a Program Error -- "XXX.EXE will now close.  An error log is
being generated" is it best to reboot?  I'm just worried that if I just
restart the app without rebooting it's still going to find its memory
space corrupted.

Your personal experience is the best guide.

Typically it isn't necessary to restart after such an error.

That's true but sometimes the application will not function as expected when doing that.
