Windows service pack download froze my computer

I was trying to download Windows XP Service Pack 2 on my IBM laptop, and I intended
to follow that with a download of Service Pack 3.  However, the Service Pack 2
download totally shut down my computer, and I am not able to access any of the
recovery functions except the "reformat hard drive" function.  Obviously, I do not
want to reformat my hard drive.  Can someone please help me?

I have posted this to several forums, because I am not sure which is the best one, so
please excuse my redundancy.

Thank you.

What happens when you turn on the computer? Please be specific. Error
messages, etc.

It boots to Windows, asks me for my PW, and I enter it.  I then get the error message
"Windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you on with the default user's
settings.  Detail: Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested
service."

I click "OK".  Then I get a screen to enter my PW again, and I get the error message
"A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for this
computer.  Error Code 0x90070002."

I hope this helps you to help me.

Thanks.

Solution: 1: Restart computer in safe mode delete service pack 2 from
add/remove program.
2: Restart computer in normal mode.
