problems with workstation administratorI'm having some problems here. I needed to change the computer name, then
rejoin the domain. The problem is I never set the local administrator password. When going through the install I jumped right into adding it to the domain. I need to log on as the local administrator and I have not been able to do so. There never was a password set so I tried a blank password, null or NULL, "" and the password I used on the domain. I have a local user account that is not in the administrator group, but that doesn't allow me to add it to the domain. What can I do to fix this? Hello pete0085,
If you have to rename a domain computer, use a domain admin account and just rename it. No need to rejoin the computer to the domain. The computer is no longer on
the domain and the local administrator never logged on or has an active password. The only thing I might be able to do is set the local user account as an administrator, but not sure how to do that since the local administrator account was never established. How did you remove it from the domain to workgroup without using the local admin? And if you need to reset the local admin password: http://www.google.de/search?hl=de&q=reset+local+administrator+password&meta= Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. ** Please do NOT email, only reply to Newsgroups ** HELP us help YOU!!! http://www.blakjak.demon.co.uk/mul_crss.htm Show quoteHide quote > Well is there anything I can do after the fact? removed it from the domain. Basically the same steps that I always do, expect I'm not able to logon as the local administrator. Like I said earlier I created a local account that is a power user or user account, but it is very restricted.
