when windows 2000 is idling, in half hour runs out of memory usage, Something
is running in backround and is eating up the memory usage. I have plenty RAM.
I did not have this problem before until lately have downloaded some updates
from MIcrosoft.

Any answers? Maybe the cache file or something else.

You probably have a memory leak. Click the "Processes" tab in the Task
Manager and check the column "Memory Usage". Which of your processes grabs
increasing amounts of memory?

When you say you have plenty of RAM, how much is that? I have 2GB here.
And even with this much, I hardly ever get close to using 500MB of it.
Yet Windows 2000 still complains of having a swapfile less than 130MB. I
don't really need one, but I threw it in a RAMDisk anyway to keep
Windows 2000 quiet.

Bill, what software are you using for the ramdisk? And would you tell us
how / where the ramdisk is setup for your pagefile to activate?

Thanks

I am using gavotramdisk. Which can be found at:

http://ftp.backschues.net/pub/install.vista/ramdisk/

It is easy to use. Just unnpack the ZIP file in a folder say called
RAMDisk. And then just run ramdisk.exe and you will get a window
allowing you to setup the size, drive letter, etc. Now you are all set.

Now you can tell your Internet temps, other temps, and the swapfile to
use the new fixed RAMDrive called drive R. And there isn't anything else
to do. Whenever you turn on your computer, all settings stays the same
until you change it again.
